Exam Description: The U.S. CPA Reciprocity Exam (or IQEX) is offered annually over a three-week period each November. It is a 4.5 hour, single-subject exam consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions on entry-level technical material. The IQEX exam may be written in nearly every major Canadian city and in select locations in the United States. More details about the exam. Try your hand at some sample IQEX questions.

This exam may only be written by Canadian and Australian Chartered Accountants. Other accountants should consider our 6-Day Program.

IAS Advantage: Our Instructor, Jim Knafo was one of the first Canadian CAs to qualify for a U.S. CPA designation through reciprocity. Since that time, and even before the establishment of the IQEX, Mr. Knafo has been active in promoting the recognition and popularity of reciprocity on both sides of the border. In 1998, in recognition of his unique expertise and qualifications, Olivia F. Kirtley, Chair of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Board of Directors, appointed Mr. Knafo to the AICPA's International Qualifications Appraisal Board (IQAB). Mr. Knafo is the only Canadian on the IQAB. The Board works cooperatively with NASBA, the governing body which administers the IQEX exam, to identify the differences between the qualification requirements of professional accountants in the United States and those of other countries, including Canada. The intent of the IQEX is to examine on the differences between the accounting and auditing practices of Canada and those of the United States.

Mr. Knafo has tailored these programs to cover the exam syllabus in an effective and efficient manner. His preparation has afforded these programs the highest pass rate of any IQEX prep course in Canada.

5-Day IQEX Program: Our 5-day comprehensive program for the 2000 IQEX exam focuses on all six areas of the syllabus and provides extra attention to those areas generally unfamiliar to Canadian CAs, such as U.S. accounting and auditing standards, business law, and taxation. To compliment our presentations, we will review hundreds of practice exam questions and exam-writing techniques during the course to ensure you pass your exam the first time!

3-Day IQEX Program: Our 3-day intensive program is available for CAs who do not require a review of the basic fundamentals of auditing and financial accounting. This 3-day program covers 70 to 80% of the IQEX exam content, namely law, fund and not-for-profit accounting, taxation and professional ethics. Participants who attend the 3-day program will receive complete IAS Study Binders, thus allowing them to review auditing and financial accounting course material on their own.

Binders

Both Programs: In addition to the highly acclaimed IAS Study Binders, participants in both courses receive supplementary textbooks, exam-writing techniques and study plan guidance, along with more than 2,500 practice exam questions and solutions covering all of the examinable topics on the 2000 IQEX. Participants need not purchase any additional exam preparation materials.

Both programs run from 8:15 am to 5:45 pm each day. See program schedule.
